The ASL Certificate provides a core curriculum in language study, supplemented by coursework in Deaf Culture, Linguistics, Structures, and courses in related areas. Students completing the ASL certificate must complete at least 2 semesters of language study prior to applying to the program. To declare an ASL certificate, students bust visit Student Records in 140 Thackeray Hall and submit an Academic Plan Change form, which can be downloaded at the Dietrich School for Arts and Sciences Website.

ASL 0101 - American Sign Language 1 (grade of B or higher)

ASL 0102 - American Sign Language 2 (grade of B or higher)*

*Students may be currently enrolled in ASL 2 when applying for the ASL certificate

Please Note: In addition to these courses students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and have a successful performance on skills and evaluations for consideration into the certificate program.
