Rasha Al-Hashimi is a native of Damascus, Syria. She has been teaching Arabic at Pitt since 2009 after completing her master’s in education from Carlow University. Rasha is also an Alumna of the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1991.

Rasha chose to teach Arabic because of her passion and love of her native language and aims to transmit this passion to her students through engaging and interactive classes. In addition, her classes include an essential cultural component that stays with the students long after they graduate.
