Viktória Batista is a native of Hungary. In Hungary, she earned a BA in English and an MA in German Literature with a European Studies minor. She holds a PhD in German Applied Linguistics from the University of Kansas. She has taught ESL, German and Hungarian at the University of Kansas, in New York City, and at Pitt where she is currently a Teaching Associate Professor in Linguistics and the Hungarian Program Coordinator in the Less-Commonly-Taught-Languages Center. In addition to language pedagogy, Dr. Batista's professional interests include Germanic and Eastern European folklore as well as post-Socialism in Eastern Europe.
